Wow she handled herself so incredibly well!! She knew that she was not comfortable with the lyrics that they were giving her and she did her own song!! At 12 years old! She handles herself way more than a lot of adults that I know :-)! So incredibly blown away!

As a father of four wonderful daughters, this song had me crying like a baby!!!! Amazingly written, and sung with breathtaking beauty. Thank you, young lady. You touched many dads out there with your magical song

I’m a father and she definitely had me balling.

She is so strong!! Even after getting stopped twice, she didn't fumble..she didn't let her nervousness show..instead she went with what her heart told and rocked it..she was awesome each time,but the last song was completely her in essence

I've coached high school girls and boys for over 25 years. The most difficult part of the job is getting the girls to believe in themselves. They get down on themselves in a heartbeat. The fact that Ashley did not fold shows her strength and that she DOES believe in herself. So proud of her and her ability to deal with constructive criticism. She has inner strength.

To be honest when he stopped her the first time I thought he was crazy, but he knew there was more to her and that original song was simply amazing .For her to spend the day practicing other songs and to just come back and steal the show with an original shows her comfort zone is to be authentic.

Simon knows his stuff. He was very respectful to Ashley, and I think he handled this whole situation very well, and I think Ashley handled Simon’s constructive criticism like a champ.

That brought me to tears! I have a baby girl of the same age, couldn't stop imagining her singing this for me!

Simon was right. A lot of singers sing popular songs like everyone else. Her voice sounded so much better when she sang in her own song, it brought tears to my eyes. Very touching.

I'm not surprised why she wrote a song about her dad and not her mom. Smile mommy, after all she's your little angel too.

I didn’t think she was mad about the song but I didn’t think she was trying not to cry either. There’s obviously something behind them, cause you can tell when a mother is proud of a daughter (and she should always be!). She may hide tears and excitement but you can see pride in her eyes. I saw nothing but coldness in her eyes.

A lot of people call Simon "mean," and he can't be abrasive...but he's usually spot on instinctively when he asks for a different song. This was no exception.

Simon has such an amazing ear for talent. I am awed by his ability to draw performances out of people. Performances they didn't know they could do. Performances others could not see.

Maybe is not her mother. But most likely it is her mother. She even looks a bit like her. But.....she wasn't pleased at all at 6:29. I think Simon has grown since his earlier years. He can put his strict motivation in a much more consumable package and now everyone can see that he just truly wants to bring out peoples potential. Now he does that without being a complete square.
