It's a weird logic, because singing is an ability that is trained. No one (or almost no one) can sing at the age of 10 without training. By that logic you can try to drive a car w/o any lessons, fail, and decide you should never ever drive a car.

I think this video proves that producers from these shows intentionally recruit the singers that did not pass the initial screening, but promised them to be on TV if they could sing significantly worse. Have them sign NDA's before even the first screen occurs and you've got them. That's basically reality TV.

Thing is....when you are told you can sing by the well meaning you believe you can. Had a friend who thought she was a star but couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. But every gathering at some point she would want to sing and not wanting to hurt her feelings everyone would let her. Any time it was suggested she couldn't sing to be kind her friends would defend her. Which only strengthened her belief she could. It truly sounded like coyotes in heat. PS. Her dream is to be on AI.

I still maintain that there should be Law-enforcement stage side to deliver restraining orders to contestants that break social boundaries such as Neal. As soon as the contestant directly involves a judge, they should be removed from the stage and/or building quick, fast and in a hurry.

My cousin tried out for american idol. She never got to be in front of "the judges", she had to go to a pre-audition. So yeah, the casting directors who left these people through to the judges knew they were bad, but they figured they'd be entertaining. They weren't wrong.

No 7 was extremely polite and kind person. Im happy they were not rude to him. And tbh with that voice he could really do good things in voice acting.

Ever since watching Zoe Alexander’s truth about the X Factor video, I feel for these contestants more than I cringe at them. Keith, for example, just seems like a sweet person who was misled. A lot of these people probably heard it from the producers that they were great singers before going into the room. It’s really shitty what they do on these shows, and it’s important to keep in mind that they can make anything look like whatever they want through editing.
