I've been watching these competitions for years and many people progress further because they have some kind of tragic story or predicament. This gains the support of the judges and Western audiences. These African guys must have some manager coaching them on what to say, and I'm pretty sure they know exactly what they are doing. The show also benefits from being marketed as a platform that takes vulnerable people from 'nothing' to global fame and riches, especially foreigners. No one fits the old 'white saviour' trope better than blacks. 🤣 I hate Africa being portrayed like that, but right now it's more important to see these guys succeed. They are representing Africa more by their talent and humility, than any of the sob stories many of us are tired of hearing. 😅

At the end of the day, these men presented a quality product and their talent revealed that. Give these gentlemen time and they will be speaking English as good as you or I do. Time is of the essence.
