This was so upsetting they denied Gen from being in the top 20 after she gave such a heartfelt and rousing version of You Say! She made it her own, I got goosebumps the whole time she was singing.. Literally every performance Gen has given this season was perfect and she shined more than anyone. This was the worst decision these judges made all season for me. Despite this, she is going to make it and be successful! She already has touched a lot of people with her talent and for the person she is and I will always be supporting her.

Right on! I was thinking the exact same thing. Had she gone through she would have made it to the top 5 without even trying. She is so incredibly likable. I don't know what kind of following some of the others have but I wonder if they denied her because they might have thought she had an unfair advantage with her 161 k subscribers. I truly feel that if they did another Idol show after this and had Gen compete against ALL of the shows past winners (Maddie Poppe, Kris Allen, Carrie Underwood, ect) she could make the top three. I can only think of 2 winners that are doing anything these days (Clarkson & Underwood). I still like the judges but boy did they get this wrong. I guess their ears were broken.

@@kevincrispien4570 That's really interesting what you brought up here with what might happen if Genavieve was competing against all the past Idol winners with the fans deciding on who wins. If it was up to me, I would be voting for Gen without a doubt. I can't think of anyone more likable and as inspiring as she is. The judges I think didn't want to take a chance of putting her in the top 20 and competing against certain producer chosen ones. I feel grateful she went on the show and got this exposure though. I just believe that no matter what she's heading for big things. Her voice and the heart she has along with the emotion she brings with her singing is just immeasurable to me. I really liked reading your comment and perspective about Genavieve :)

Their eyes are blinded by secular humanism; they could not connect with the Anointing of the Lord pouring out on Genavieve or Caitlyn. Many in the audience did, however, CONNECT. I totally agree with each of your comments

@@sheriklein7971 I agree. Sometimes singing a Christian song makes it hard for non-Christians to relate and you end up getting eliminated. But I think "You Say" is fine because it's so well-known by non-Christians. But I would definitely not pick Break Every Chain. I think its okay to sing these songs, but understand that not everyone on American Idol will feel included and that may cost you the competition

seriously, Lionel, Katy, and luke were high, what drugs were they on.... seriously this girl can sing.... They passed questionable talent...... dissapointed

I’m shocked that she was not sent through and others like Nick and Sophia Wackerman (who gave a total karaoke performance) was sent through. Shame on American Idol for not sending true talent through! How bout letting America vote after their first auditions? After all isn’t it America who would it wouldn’t buy their music? If Genavieve made an album now I’d totally purchase it! I can not say that about most of the contestants sent through. 😔

That’s what happened the last time for Genavieve on American Idol. She sang Praying by Kesha, but she didn’t go through.

I hope she becomes successful because she deserves it! Though it is sad to see her go but i guess things happen for a reason! God has a bigger better plan for you sweetheart keep being optimistic and I love how you can easily have anything but yet you stay humble! Stay True to yourself we're all rooting for you ❤️❤️

They should be showing whole performances. She is phenomenal vocally. They are only showing snippets of what the contestants can do. She was one of my favorites and one of the best. Anyone who disagrees needs to head down to her KZread Channel. Katie,Lionel,and Luke fell short.

Silent Piroro - I noticed that as well... it could be that Lionel and Katy sold their souls to the beast- literally. Look at Katy’s videos and interview... cannibalism, possession, casual sex... etc... Lionel is from my era. He’s not for Christ - our lord and Savior. And... Luke is just a yes man.

It was a Very Unfortunate set of circumstances....This is reason why I stopped watching "American Idol" Completely....Any show and facilitating judges who "Deny The Power Thereof" in Worship unto Almighty God-Father, Son and Holy Spirit will not see and experience the Glory of God after the Final Judgement of the Wicked....Take note....It's what the Word of Truth, God's Word says in the Bible....Lionel Ritchie, especially, was a huge disappointment to me because he glorified Jesus in song back in my days (with the Commodores) when he sang...."JESUS IS LOVE" in 1980....🙏🏾

They went alot further than she has in this competition but what is yours will be yours in the end, and I definitely believe God will use her in music in a big way!

Guinevere is one of my favorites in this competition. I am so sorry her Journey on America’s got talent was short but her new journey is about to begin. God has great plans for her. ❤️

Luke made a deal with the devil, it’s the only explanation how someone so freaking mediocre could have as much success as he’s had. Hence he didn’t feel a connection. Maybe if Genevieve drove up in a pickup truck it’d be different

It's not fair for the judges to make an indecisive decision based on approval in appearances based on judging outward outside "looks" just as the main common make or breaker deal plain indicating underlying factor of cut faulty line, whereas she displayed true emotion in her singing even though it was a lower pitch she hit that high range note while towards very near end and sang holding " I believe. " She should not have been chosen in the selective bunch category selected hand picked bunch that were already pre-decided and rehearsed as elimination round of eliminating bias of "gospel" genre in the top 40 edition. However, narrowing down to the top 20 round the industrialist competitive seeking career business aspect has made this "rigged" ragged in more sharp hard core hard cut booting an unfair shot for voices like her to be left putting off screen unforgotten, unheard, or unseen in popularity its not a talent show voice modeling agency contest for goodness sakes.

towards the final round announcing the name of the winner and naming the initial runner ups increases this sky high scale rocketing demanding exuberant cut throat competition boost more increasing popularizing popular exaggeration boosts more sale viewership less viewer discretion more televised parishioners call in calling in voting tie ballot affairs will end with crying many nights of tears brutal failure failing disappointment of endless vigorous drama more suspense on the verge of the edge of your seats to have you shocked in surprise mystery for the final contest contestant episode.

They want to recreate the "3 divas" vibe from season 2 that gave them crazy ratings and she doesn't fit that...even tho she's better than half the people that went through. wow.

I will say, her covers where she doesn’t just belt the whole time really showcase the complexity of her voice. She’s still good, but she’s much better when she goes quieter and gets more connected to the lyrics.
