Well honestly he's right. He's in the business of selling a product to the general public. Flutes aren't going to sell. Youre never going to hear it on the radio. It's never going to get a show in Vegas. At best you can get a spot in a famous symphony. Theres no market for flute players alone. There never has been. The flute isn't like guitars or saxophones that can stand on their own in an act. The flute isn't a strong enough instrument. It would never win the show.

Ok, as someone who played the flute for 7 years of my life, I have to say a few things about the 2 flute performances. First off, well done to both of them and big kudos to Terry for sticking up for them. Second, just because, as Simon said, most people wouldn't buy a flute record, doesn't mean these flute players don't have the talent to go on and play with some of the most famous orchestras in the world OR even be in a band as a flute player...HELLO??!! Jethro Tull, Ann Wilson from Heart, AND, my biggest influence, Ray Thomas from The Moody Blues! So all that being said, don't disqualify a flute player just because they came in by themselves and you're only thinking of them as "well why would people buy a flute record?"....if they have the talent then put them through!! And even if they may not win the competition, it would still give them the exposure to be seen by music composers, producers, etc. who would probably love them and wanna work with them! FLAUTISTS ROCK!! ❤🤘

Despite loving the format of this show for the relative amount of variety it still allows ~ there never is and really never has been anyone ‘judging’ with the understanding required to tell bad from good musicianship. They don’t really have the knowledge or experience to know that these musicians absolutely *do have a place - often in their favourite productions. They literally don’t know enough about music and being a gigging musician in order to know that. You can’t blame them for experience they don’t have but damn ~ dancers must be fckng thrilled Bruno is finally a judge. They’re getting something they could call feedback 🤷‍♀️

These take place over years, and yes there HAS@@pencilandpaper8438, bgt and agt has been happening over 20 years now, there is just so much talent coming from all around the world, these judges have sat through countless auditions and performances, you can literally tell Simon feels broken for rejecting so many people but you dont know the full story. None of us do.. everyone is human, have you not seen the violinist and the guy with the saxophone or people who play the piano while singing??? there is a skill and energy level you have to have, dancers come because they are INVITED alot of the time, i know you must be young but as you grow up you'll see how set up this show used to be and even nowadays. I went to an Australias Got Talent and the audience sits there for hours and hours and hours maybe hearing 3 or 4 acts. We got cues to applaud and to boo etc, they edit it together to make whatever story they want to. Simon invited alot of the most talented back and even to the show... your youth and disrespect is showing so much.

It was a misdemeanor, in most States theft over 1000, 2000, or 3000 dollars is charged as a felony. edit: i actually don't like how i worded the original comment above, something closer to the tone i meant to convey would be 'because it was only a misdaemenor under california's ludicrously lax theft statutes. And in most places in the country, looking into a camera and saying you're about to steal a $3000 microphone, and then doing exactly that, would be a felony. And probably a robbery charge and not simple theft. Which carries a stiffer penalty."

the problem with the flute players who come on this show is...they aren't good enough. the ones people WOULD buy albums for? are all in professional symphonies and such.

That one guy is actually insane. You act all arrogant and behave like an idiot and when he gets denied, he decides to steal a microphone. My jaw dropped when I watched that part. I've never seen something like that on the X Factor.

They choose certain people to make a scene and follow them around etc, that was just some drama played up for the cameras, there is no chance cameramen would be filming in all those different places, and chasing him down. They used to do this a lot, not so much anymore as it literally ruined some peoples lives.

That was so disrespectful of the judges to leave but props to that man for continuing on without them even though you can tell it caught him off guard

I just love how Simon took the girls who were rejected by another judge, put them together, and gave them another start because I’m sure they felt like they weren’t worthy of another chance. I think it’s weird of the other judges to be yelling “that’s STUPID” over Simon choosing one artist over another because you’re basically saying to the artist that was chosen “YOU are stupid” and it makes you look absolutely bitter.

I think she was not as much giving the finger to the artist that was chosen as having a hard time coping with the choice of her fellow judges and seeing people she wanted to succeed be voted off. Despite knowing this is part of a competition like this, a judge can succomb to their humanity and need to step away because they were emotionally involved. Emotional involvement to this degree is something I respect and enjoy to see. I'll take it over cold rational professionalism any day, especially when it comes to arts.

If you think playing it was bad-I have 4 kids who freaking played recorders (mandatory in music class). Nothing is worse than listening to 4 kids learn to play the recorder for 4yrs😵‍💫

@@PokerR6 Flute is a very important instrument in Classical music. I am surprised you didn't realise it and classify it as a "trash" (well I'm not sure either you know classical music). Or anyone here didn't know about it. Beethoven Symphony no 9. use it a lot in all of the pieces, Mozart has flute concertos, and it is basically a very important instrument in classical music. It belongs there.

@@S-O-L I kind of understand his hatred for flutes. Once you hear it once, you have heard it all. I wouldn't go as far as to say it is annoying, maybe he finds it annoying because he finds it squeaky, but I think it would be reasonable for someone to go that far.

Between this, his own selection for the golden buzzer, and stripping for tapeface I think Terry might be my favorite guest host on Americas got talent.
