I'm pretty sure Howie helped her get to the the semifinal though. It was her and a dance company, and Simon and Howie vote for her and Sophia and Heidi voted the dance company. So it went to audience vote and she got in.

Heidi told her in her first audition, that she didn't like the song, because it didn't make her "want to jump out of her seat." Now she's saying she misses her quirkiness, aka what she had in her first audition. Riduclous. Madylin is an outstanding singer, and as somebody who has been following her on social media for a couple years now, I know what she is capable of. At least Simon see's spectacular potential in her. They acknowledged she has a great voice but that it was the great voice combined with the creative songwriting that made her stand out in her audition and they wanted more of that. That's not hate at all. It's branding advice. Her performance was definitely beautiful though, I think showing her versatility was a potentially great choice.

Follow up, I hadn't seen Howie Mandel's idiotic response to her next performance when I commented here. I thought the advice given here in this video was good, she's a fantastic singer but what would make her stand out and unique in a competition like this is her singer-songwriting skills. I think she took the note really well and came back with a beautiful original song. I'm glad Heidi got on board then, but yeah, Howie's response was unhelpful and uncalled for.

Let's be honest... if she did do another "I wrote a song using blank comments" the judges would tell her it's getting old and do something new. She's an ARTIST and this performance was amazing!!!

that broad literally said in the audition that she wants to share her own songs to the world and yet chose to perform Titanium and failed miserably. Without any bias or hate it is what it was.

I feel like the judges don’t realise HOW BIG that cover was, like INSANELY VIRAL. It made sense for her to perform It, and the “quirky” songs were to hook the judges and audience in so they would be interested to see her raw talent. She’s a legit singer, of course she had to pull out the stops and show that so people would take her and her career as seriously as possible. She’s an artist before anything else

Sometimes I am really embarassed for Germany honestly. As a German myself, I can promise you, we are not all like that. I am really mad that Heidis FIRST comment about her performance was "well you look great". That is not what it is about and it honesty makes me so furious.

Heidi is not our proudest export to the US, she needs to realise this isn‘t Germany‘s Next Topmodel where she can exploit young women, this is a show about talent (tell me where her talents are, as I remember she was never a high fashion / runway model, just doing commercials and VS (not high fashion btw).

There are only four judges, there's not room on the panel to have a judge that specializes in each type of talent that is featured on the show. You'd need a professional singer, musician, dancer, comedian, magician, ventriloquist, danger artist, animal trainer, etc.

I’m coming from an unbiased place here (I’ve never heard of her until now) and honestly think she did a really good job that showcased her voice. I have no idea what Heidi’s problem is.

Madilyn sings in Audition...Simon's grumpy soul lights up and he can't stop the positive comments. Madilyn sings Titanium live and Simon is glowing with an awe-inspired look. Seriously never thought I'd see Simon glow like that but Madi's voice is... quite spectacular 👌 👏 😀 👍 😍 🙌 👌

This shows how good of a judge Simon is. He appreciate real talent..

Also Madilyn is singing songs to showcase her voice in whatever way she wants to and Simon recognized that but Heidi & Howie seem to be stuck on her quirkyness. Just listen to her beautiful voice y’all and judge her on that. The last singer, Jimmie sang another show tune. Do they expect him to do ALL show tunes?

The way Madilyn sings is very special, and she has a beautiful talented voice. However, with Jimmie, even if he sings slow songs, he has one of the greatest and most beautiful voices I've ever heard, so if he wants to sing slow songs, props to him.

I was waiting for this perfomance, and as someone who has been following her for years I was hoping that this was the song that she would sing, the song that started it all for her and went viral in her earlier days on youtube! You are amazing Madilyn

I'm SO GLAD she sang titanium I absolutely fell in love with her the moment I heard her cover of this song.

Amazing vocals. Simon was blown away- don't recall him ever being so impressed.

I feel whenever a person comes on the show, each judge takes a certain aspect or quality of them and just focuses on that. Simon mainly loves her vocals rather than her quirkiness and creativity. Howie focuses on the opposite. These judges often forget that people have range and can switch it up and don't have to always stick to one genre or style.

AGT is like a high school talent show. They're not really looking for superstars which Madilyn (and Lindsey Sterling) obviously is. They just pick and choose in the moment without really evaluating the entire package (that goes for The Voice too btw). Imo Madilyn is much bigger than AGT and none of the judges, with Simon possibly being the exception, really get that.

i love her voice. a technical constructive criticism i would give her is that she uses a LOT of vibrato unless shes sustaining a note. its too much vibrato however her ability to hold those notes and have nearly perfect pitch are incredible

Heidi makes no sense. I'm so happy to see Madilyn doing the song that made her a sensation. I don't personally enjoy covers, but this one made it to my personal playlist a couple of years ago. She blew me away. What a talent! This girl deserves the best.

Heide's criticism is just... Uhh.. Whatever .. Please someone put a judge that actually gets it who can provide good, helpful feedback like Howie.. Either way, Madi did great.. She could do so much more

I absolutely HATE how people with talent that have a sad story end up getting very viral and normal people get hate, now I’m not trying to spread hate to the people that have a sad story, I totally feel bad and sad for them and respect them at all times so they have nothing to do with this. But the way normal people get hate thinking that they don’t deserve a million dollars because they don’t have a story is just terrible! But you are extremely talented Madilyn! She looks stunning. I used to listen to her viral cover of this song back then. Now she made it even more beautiful to listen to.

I'm really confused by these comments. Never has anyone preformed an original song then went into the voting portion sang a cover and got criticism from judges. I've seen people get through with an original song, then cover a song and get praised by the judges. The song didn't get her through, her talent did, she should be judged on singing ability. This was a flawless performance, they didn't take notice that she auditioned playing a guitar, she performed playing piano. She plays more than 1 instrument.

I barely listen to her anymore but I still think she has one of the most beautiful voices ever. Found her back in 2017, still recognize her voice instantly cause of that special thing she does

literally a powerhouse cover was the smartest move she could’ve pulled - she already showed off her quirkiness and songwriting, so showing that she has those pipes was also needed. simon’s the only one who had any idea what he was talking about here tbh

Her vocals are amazing. As a professional singer/songwriter; her vibrato and range kills me everytime.

I first found Ms Bailey when I heard her "Titanium" video. Her rendition in this clip shows how far she's come and matured into her role as a vocalist. That said, I really love her rendition of Ed Sheerhan's "Shape of You".

She sang beautifully! Her voice is angelic and look how adorable she looks!!

This is a huge song to cover and she did an incredible job with it. Shes a singer.

Her voice was so soothing and this is one of the songs i could listen till the end without getting bored she killed it !!

My one reaction: Heidi, wasnt your whole point last time that you DIDNT care for the quirkiness, now she tried to do something more YOUR speed, and NOW you want quirkiness? Please just make up your mind.

That was a beautiful performance! Madilyn's in such a tough spot. If she performs the quirky, social media comments songs then people won't take her seriously as a singer. By the same token, if she performs covers, then what made her unique isn't being showcased. Really tough spot. I think the only way forward is for her to blend the two together-to perform songs using people's comments that feel like they are records, as opposed to being novelties.

Honestly I must say that I’ve watched so many talents in AGT yet this is one of the best. I love how Simon based his answer by her talent Heidi and Howie should have done that as well. This show is meant to find talent not just for entertainment. This is why I love The Voice more because the judges are turned around so they don’t base it of on how you look it’s the talent and they give you tips and all that if they didn’t turn.

You go girl! She deserves all the love she can get!

Simon has supported her both auditions. Heidi dissed her for being quirky last time and dissed her for not being quirky this time (she seems to be “surprised” and “not expecting” everything this girl does. Weird reactions....hmmmmmm.... Howie liked the quirky and seemed to ignore her beautiful wife.

I have loved this song since I was nine years old! And to see her performing it on AGT, make me cry with tears of happiness.

Her voice is still so angelic, even when performing in front of the world, and she is so confident! These are qualities to admire!

I loved both of her performances, they were amazing! You can tell that this song had a special meaning behind it and meant a lot to her. Furthermore, this performance showed that she can sing different types of songs and not just the same thing. Why does it matter that its a cover as long as she sings it with her whole heart!

I still can’t believe how good this is. The only act/song I’ve watched/listened to multiple times.

Unpopular opinion but I think she’s gonna save red ribbon for the finals if she gets to it because it’s such a powerful song and it will definitely be great for the finals
