He’s SO lucky he took second. Apparently the winner is locked into a very restrictive contract. He’s by FAR the most talented guy EVER on this show and his career is gonna be amazing. I’ll be buying his music for sure.

Although he didn’t win, Alejandro now has the freedom to choose any label that’s coming after him rather than being tied down to American Idol. So glad Alejandro didn’t win. He freed himself that very night by not flying to NY to do the Kelly and Ryan show. Within 24 hours he announced his mini tour. He gave AI appropriate thanks and credit and then walked away to be a creative genius and become a phenomenon.

Jordan if he already had good music he would have been picked up by now. Truth be told his songs are not catchy. They’re lacking a lot of what make songs poppy and make the charts. He’s also a limited singer.

His first audition I hardly saw him smile, and this one...he’s smiling almost the whole time. It warms my heart

I don't think anyone realizes the significance of the fact that this kid had people AND the judges singing his original song before the competition was even over.

I love how Alejandro sends a Hidden Message not to vote for him in the American Idol backstage clip at the end how he flashes ten fingers quickly and then holds up 1 finger for a bit and softly says 11 , and laine says 11 Loudly!! Not mentioning some of the looks Alejandro gave at the end of some of his performances , check his eyes out on the end of a couple of performances. i just saw him in concert on tour with covet 3 or 4 weeks ago. he is insanely good even after being on tour for a month he still sounds amazing. hes truly an amazing artist and musician!

The connection he’s made with fans already learning his songs and singing along unreal

Inarguably, the most ingenious Idol ever. He propelled to the top singing originals on a show lending its hand to karaoke performances. There's really no sense in blaming Idol for the fact that he didn't win it all; he defied the odds of this platform through sheer brilliance. I've had my fair share of Idol favorites over the years, but have never been this amazed and captivated. I can't wait to buy his music.

He’s just not your taste in music but his beautiful voice is undeniable. It’s raw and it’s real. Your ears have been over saturated with so much garbage you can’t appreciate the beauty.

Listen to that crowd, we know who the real winner was. This guy will have an amazing career, I can’t wait to listen to him along his journey. No disrespect to Laine, but Alejandro is a true artist, gifted with the ability to manipulate instruments to his hearts content, and lyrics the truly speak from the heart. You can tell it means something to him every single time he sings one of “his” songs. That’s powerful, and something the music world continues to need more of.

I'm watching this for probably the 200th time and especially appreciating how difficult it is to play that guitar pattern and sing at the same time. I love him. Best artist of all time in my opinion.

The audience never reacted to any contestant like they have him and yet someone else won? Unreal!

Nah. Laine is just a better talent show competitor. Laine can crush Alejandro in Karaoke. Laine will also likely fade into obscurity after one popular album since every winner is able to put out an album and have it sell. Then he will be irrelevant, like so many other past winners. Alejandro will have many albums. Perhaps they won't sell as much as Laine's first album, but he will have a long and respected career with many hits that he himself wrote. He will likely have some movie scores.

As others have said - be thankful he didn't ... The AI contract (through Freemantle Media) is incredibly restrictive and long - as long as 7 years ... He's going to do so much better without it ...

He does not fit a mold - just original brilliance. A travesty that he did not win - each judge knows it. But he will have unparalleled success - his talent and courage will lead the way.

No, you are NOT. I was rooting for him all along and actually surprised myself when I wasn't upset about Laine winning instead. Something about Alejandros' smile immediately afterward, and his hugging Laine, he looked relieved. He achieved recognition but the biggest gain for him was confidence, which he sorely lacked at first. Now he can relax (a bit) before choosing what record label HE wants. He totally won!

Now he's free to pave a solid career in the long term, as a true artist prefers, not being struck in the AI terrible contract. And he will raise a huge money as soon as he drops out his album, make videos and go tour, cause millions are already begging to buy it, just the way nowadays producers are looking for. Making to the finals has made possible to use AI's national TV time at the maximum to premarket the whole package. What it seems to be bad now, is the best thing could ever happen to him, actually. That's why I'm happy for Laine as well. As a talented, but ordinary singer, this is the best he can reach. But for Alejandro, money is just a matter of time. His artistry greatness is way beyond a TV show "Best Karaoke Singer for Teenagers and Musically Simpleton People" tittle. He's going to be part of the great ones on the music history. Janes Christina I’m with you! 24 hours after the show Alejandro announced his first national tour and Laine was sent off to The View for yet another lame interview to promote American Idol. Alejandro doesn’t want to waste his time on that non-sense he wants to create music like a mad scientist. Alejandro also said in an interview he was relieved he didn’t win.

I really miss seeing him every week. Lots of Idol haters out there but they did bring us ALEJANDRO.

All I can say is he is on his way. He has that sound ,that makes him stand out from all the rest. We will be hereing and seeing alot of Alejandro. On stage with all the best. What a born 🌟.

I won't watch AI ..... I watched the first season Kelly and Justin .......and Alejandro // 17th season. That's I'm done. Audience will fizzle the Laine Hardy's cannot carry. No one cares after this.
