Nope, no longer a karaoke show, but unfortunately too often a beauty contest. But thank you to Alejandro for allowing us in on the ground floor of what will be a long and successful music career. I look forward to all the CDs and new originals!

Truly, I think it stopped being a competition after the auditions. Like Luke said after Alejandro's audition, "I don't even want to hear anybody else."

@bella roja hate to break it to you, electronic music is big thing alejandro does. This was beautiful, imo. Out loud is probably his most mainstream song, and i still love it. Don't put homie in a box.
Everytime time I see dishwasher next to his name I'm just dumbfounded, what a talented, humble, inspirational human being.
Im glad that Idol is allowing this much orig songs from a contestant throughout the series

They aren't letting him play his songs as a favor. Many of his songs are better songs than the covers his competitors are singing.

@@berighteous he has done cover songs in previous episodes. Why would they chastise him for something that makes his performance effective? And he doesnt have his eyes closed the whole time he performs

He'll get second place and a bunch of deals, and the winner will get overly promoted and sucked dry for a year or two until they fade into obscurity- you don't know the formula yet

Everything he sings is amazing but his originals are just beyond beautiful. The look of surprise when he realised that the audience was singing along with him was just priceless. Love love love you Alejandro. Regardless of the results, you’re an absolute musical genius. I would joyfully buy your album in a heartbeat. 💖☺️

I thought about the same thing. I had read somewhere that a previous winner had hoped not to win because they had to be locked in a contract for 1-2 years. Not good if you are a genius like Alejandro who is a songwriter/musician. He would have to sing songs that would have to be approved by the label. I do not see Laine have hit after hit songs like Alejandro has right now. I love a song he has on Spotify called Fading Away. Pure love. He is the true winner.
