That dissonant chord was fucking amazing. For you that don’t know, the note he sung was the 4th scale degree, “Fa,” raised up a half step, called the sharp 4 (#4), or “Fi.” It is the main sound of the Lydian mode in music. However, it is placed in a dominant chord, a chord used to create musical tension, so it’s especially exotic to use the #4 in this chord because it transforms a common chord into a rare chord that creates what is known as the Lydian Dominant mode. It’s hard to put this chord in a composition without it sounding “off,” and very VERY rarely used outside of jazz, but of course, being the genius he is, he pulled it off. It gave me goosebumps immediately. The best part is that he probably had no idea about the theory behind it when making the song - he most likely just heard it from within the depths of his genius mind. That’s the true artistic way to do it. Amazing!

Crazy Noona Actually, everyone can move fingers that fast. Try it - wiggle your fingers. Very fast! The part that is so significant in his achievement is that he is able to coordinate with all that speed to corresponding notes he is looking for. This takes confidence, dexterity and utmost precision. There is no shortcut to this other than thousands of hours of repetition. The speed of his fingers aren’t what is impressive - it’s that his brain knows where to put those fingers at such a speed that most cannot even comprehend thinking on!

@@Saxologic that's true, once it's learned it's repeated, w changes filtering in. Repetition until it becomes a memory of the muscle. Then a player can stop thinking about it as their fingers take on a life of their own.

Whether or not he wins, he will prosper as one of the best musicians of all time.
